Support for Austin FCU Members During the Government Shutdown
We understand a government shutdown can be a stressful scenario for our impacted members. If you’re directly affected by the shutdown, we can help. We have several options available:
For Government Employees:
Emergency Furlough Loan Program – no credit check loans that allow members to borrow up to 75% of your net direct deposit for one pay period*
SNAP Recipients:
From November 3rd to 14th, existing members who do not receive their November SNAP funding can stop into the branch with your Lone Star card to receive a $50 HEB Gift Card**.
For anyone affected by the shutdown:
Fee Waivers – Waived NSF, Courtesy Pay or Late Fees. Please contact us to request a fee reversal.
Payment Deferrals – Payment deferrals for up to 3 months on most Austin FCU loans
Grace Period – all Austin FCU loans come with a 10 day grace period. So, if you just need a few extra days don’t worry about it, just pay before the grace period is up and carry on next month like usual.

If you’re not affected directly by the shut down or benefits delay, but still want to help, consider the following:
- Contribute an HEB Gift Card or donation to purchase more gift cards for your fellow Austin FCU members (contact us to make a donation)
- Donate or Volunteer to the Central Texas Food Bank
- Donate or Volunteer with The United Way of Greater Austin
*Must be a member in good standing. Calculation is based on net deposit to your Austin FCU account. Loan funds will be deposited on the date of the missed payroll deposit. In the event that backpay is received, Emergency Furlough Loans must be repaid at the time the backpay is deposited. If backpay is not received, loans convert to a 24 month personal loan at 6.00% Annual Percentage Rate.
